Girlfriend is the third studio album by American alternative rock musician Matthew Sweet. It was released on Zoo Entertainment in 1991 and has been placed in Paste Magazine’s top 90 albums of the 90’s.

In my opinion, this isn’t one of those albums where EVERY song is amazing…however Divine Intervention, I’ve Been Waiting, and Girlfriend are so great that for ME…it makes this album good enough to listen to once in a while. Sweet’s unique sound alone makes this a refreshing listen. The title track ‘Girlfriend’ might very well be one of the best rock/blues/jam songs of the 90’s. This song will live for a LONG time. Do yourself a favor and keep the first three tracks in a playlist and don’t forget about them.
